Devotion Wedding Show is the premier wedding show held in St John’s for Newfoundland brides! Sunday was my first time attending, and I loved every second of it. I am so glad I went as a BRIDE, and not as a business person – although look out for me in the future!
I met a lot of vendors I hadn’t worked with before, and was very informative. My visit gave me great perspective into who to recommend.
The Creme de la Creme:
Kathy Evans Design Studio
Kathy had a beautiful display set up before you even walked into the convention room! Now that was an attention grabber! Primarily a decorator, she will soon be incorporating bridal gowns, bridesmaids dresses, and accessories into her line. She’s aiming to be an all-inclusive bridal salon, and with the kind of eye she has, I can see a lot of happy brides in her future!

Carolyns Creations
One of my favorite wedding cakes of all time was made by Carolyn, shown here at Elizabeth and Jeremy’s wedding in 2011. It’s also on the home slider page of jenniferdawe.com!
She didn’t disappoint with her show cakes.
It’s hard to believe that Carolyn is entirely self taught.
She’s not only an incredible baker, she has a personality second to none.
I loved meeting you for the first time in person Carolyn!
(Bonus points for a super cute, easily navigable website as well!)

By Sharpe Design
By Sharpe Design has also already been featured on this blog! Susan decorated for Niki and Robbies wedding back in June. At the show, she had a beautiful setup, with a plating example, menu, seating chart, etc. I loved it! Susan will coordinate the design for your entire event.
She was very very kind, and didn’t mind me asking 100 questions. You can tell she LOVES what she does. That’s exactly what I want in any vendor I work with.

The Paperie
Not being a scrapbooker, I had no idea The Paperie did anything other than scrapbooking supplies. I didn’t realize they offer supplies for invitations, menus, seating charts, guest favours, and other bits of stationary. They also can assemble these things for you! They were very excited to see me come around with a camera, and encouraged me to take lots of images. (Photographers gold!) AND They had a beautiful booth to boot! They went all out, and it showed. Colour me impressed.

Ever After Bridal Boutique
A personal favorite. They have the most gorgeous gowns on the entire island. Connie, Julie and Cyndi were all there, and made it an experience – not just a booth. The three ladies were so helpful, and even though they were incredibly busy, they answered all of my questions. (Even when I came back the second time, because I thought of more to ask!) Thank you ladies, you couldn’t have been more helpful. I sadly couldn’t snap a picture, except for the backs of people’s heads, because their booth was swamped! I’m hoping to make a trip out to their shop in the next little bit; camera in hand, of course.
Picco’s Creations
Show. Stopper.
Really.
The cakes are so elaborate, and intricate. These are magazine-worthy cakes. I was in complete awe.
Pam was excited, and you could tell she was entirely in her element. I tasted the Red Velvet sample, my favorite flavor, and it was heavenly. Then I tried a banana pound cake with peanut butter frosting – brilliant is not the word!

These were just my personal favorites, and there were lots of great booths where I didn’t get to stop for a proper visit.
I also got to meet up with some photographers who have been idols of mine! Ray of Light’s Apryl Stead, for example, is incredible. She shot a wedding Friday. She shot a wedding Saturday. She was leaving for Louisiana on Monday (the very next day!) for a business trip. She was there, and HAPPY to be so! Incredible! She was warm, friendly, and there was a LOT of effort put into her booth. We loved speaking to her! We went back again before we left to tell her how much we appreciated everything, and how she had been amazing to chat with. Same goes with King’s Photography‘s Phonse King – busy man, awesome booth, but with energy to spare when chatting. Darrell Sharpe had me energized!
Overall, we had a fabulous time yesterday! The gift bags were a wonderful treat – I even got a full issue of Wedding Bells magazine! I wasn’t expecting that! I am absolutely taking part next year. I loved every second. I met with some wonderful vendors, and loved the energy of the whole convention centre!
Were you wearing a pink bride sticker on Sunday?? What were your thoughts? Who were your favorite vendors??
Updated 12:46pm – I feel like my review of the booths that didn’t live up to my expectations are taking away from the incredible experiences that I DID have. While my opinion is my own, I want to highlight the best of the best, as seen above!
