St John’s NL Wedding Photographer | 52/50 Project — Week 7 | Jennifer Dawe Photography
I was sick in bed. I had been for 3 days. We usually don’t celebrate ‘holidays’ such as Valentines anyway, so I never suspected it would be a big deal. Little did I know, my illness almost ruined John’s special surprise.
He had arranged for flowers to be sent to my office weeks in advance of v-day, but I wasn’t going to be there. He ended up having to call my office and asked a coworker to receive them. On his lunch hour, he went to get them, and brought them home to me. It was adorable, and made it even more special to receive them from him personally.
Being sick on Valentines’ day made for a funny story.
In the end of course, I still ended up spoiled. Maybe even moreso than normal.

St John’s NL Wedding Photographer | 52/50 Project — Week 1 | Jennifer Dawe Photography
So crazy that the new year is here. 2012 went by in the blink of an eye. We are already fully booked for this coming wedding season, and it makes me excited to think about what we can accomplish in 2013. We have worked so hard and for so long to get here. We aren’t entirely where we want to be yet, there are still lots of goals to reach, but we’ve made leaps and bounds in the past 12 months.
John and I took a break from family/everyday life and spent the weekend in a hotel, where we ate out for every meal, turned off all our internet devices, and caught up on some quality time together. And sleep. It will absolutely become a tradition to do a weekend away directly after the crazyness of Christmas.
This is week one of my 52/50 project.
Around this time of year, many professional and hobbyist photographers start a daily photo journal where they take an image a day for the entire year. My 52/50 Project is a little different. When I began photography, I exclusively used a 50mm lens with my first film SLR. My first DSLR was also solely equipped with the same prime lens. While it’s always in my camera bag, I have fallen away from it in recent years in favour of other lenses.
In 2013, I’m going to challenge myself to make an incredible image every week in 2013, using only my 50mm lens. I’m going to get back to my roots, and test how much I’ve grown.

Newfoundland Baby Photographer | Baby Lilah | Jennifer Dawe Photography
I had the immense pleasure of meeting David, Krista, and new little 2 week old Lilah this past Sunday.
This is just a small sneak peek of a few images for the proud new parents!
I hope you both love them, there are so many more for you to see!

SUCH an angel!

St John’s Wedding Photographer | Shawn and Jennifer — SneakPeek! | Jennifer Dawe Photography
After taking them out for their Engagement photos earlier this summer, I knew exactly how the day was going to be.
Jennifer and Shawn are both such calm, collected, cool people! No stress, no worry! Instead of frantically running around, we just took our time, and enjoyed the day.
Mr and Mrs Quinton, we can’t thank you enough for yesterday. We loved the spending the day with you. We had a fantastic time, and your family and friends treated us as if they’d known us for years. We are very lucky people.
The lovely newlyweds were completely on board (no pun intended) when I suggested checking out the Railway Coastal Museum in downtown St John’s.
These are only 2 of the images we made yesterday.
(There will be oh-so-many more.)

Incredible.
Check out my Facebook Page to see the HILARIOUS photos from the BoothBlast! Photobooth from the reception!

Newfoundland Wedding Photographers | Danielle’s Bridal Shower | Jennifer Dawe Photography
Inseparable.
We thought the same, we acted the same, and we laughed at the same silly things. She introduced me to 80′s movies, and quesadillas. We wrote each other notes when we were in separate classes. We chatted on ICQ together while watching Survivor. (Oh god, I just dated us, didn’t I?)
We were each other’s shoulders when boys were stupid, and broke our hearts.
We even got ready for prom together.
We went to the salon together to get our hair done.
I did her makeup. She zipped up my dress.
Danielle was my best friend in high school. That was 10 years ago. Now she’s getting married! The BEST part – I get to be there when she gets ready for her wedding, as her photographer.
This past Sunday, myself and a lovely group of ladies spent our afternoon showering the bride-to-be at the North Bank Lodge in Pippy Park.
In true Danielle fashion, everything was exquisitely decorated. (Martha Stewart, move over!)
All of the decor shown below is handmade!

Game materials!

We had to guess whether the item was describing the bride or the groom by holding up the mustache or tiara. Too funny!

The RIGHT – LEFT game. Pass the parcel, adult style! The bridesmaids told us a confusing story, and we had to pass the gifts in the appropriate direction whenever the words right or left were used. Hilarious! (I found a version of the game here if you want to check it out!)
One of many treats!
I could not be more fortunate to call someone a friend. I can not wait to be there when you walk down the aisle.

Newfoundland Newborn Photographer | Beautiful Baby Abigail | Jennifer Dawe Photography
As a photographer, August is a busy month for weddings here in Newfoundland. It was so nice to break out of it to do a LifeArt Newborn shoot with brand new, beautiful baby Abigail!

Just too precious. I loved every minute!

The tutu was way too big for petite Miss Abby, but just too sweet!

Born a Flames fan!
Can you believe that this gorgeous couple are new parents?? This is how they look while super busy, and sleep deprived! Jason and Natalie, you make the rest of us look bad. Really really bad. xo!
So much love!
The first family photo! My absolute honour to have taken.
Thank you so much for having us! I can’t wait for you to see the rest!
xo!

Newfoundland Newborn Photographer | More Baby Grayson! | Jennifer Dawe Photography
A Sneak Peek usually only has a select few pictures in it, and posted the day of, or the day after the shoot happens.
As a follow up to the Sneak Peek of Baby Grayson that I posted in the blog a few weeks ago, I wanted to post more from the other images that were delivered to Crystal and Rick after a week after the session took place. Photographing an infant has it’s difficulties, but it is so worth it!
There were so many adorable images that it was hard choosing what to post in that last entry!

As beautiful as the pictures are, and as happy I am to have created them, the personal satisfaction I feel is only trumped by this message:
“The pictures are absolutely beautiful!!! I cried just looking at them. “ – Crystal

Newfoundland Childrens Photographer | Amelia — One Year Old | Jennifer Dawe Photography
Amelia changed so much in just 2 weeks! She has a new tooth, and I even noticed a height difference! It all goes to prove that images of your child in the first year are so important – they change so rapidly.
Being a child photographer in Newfoundland, there are always fun locations to go – we took Amelia to the park the last time we saw her.
But sometimes there’s nothing sweeter than a simple studio shoot!

She did NOT want anything in her hair. The look she gave her mother!! I couldn’t help but laugh.

Pretending to be shy.

Don’t believe it for a second!

Silly girl!

Too much fun!
I can’t wait to see how much she changes between now and the next time I see her!

Newfoundland Newborn Photographer | Baby Grayson | Jennifer Dawe Photography
You may remember this blog entry, when Carmen purchased a gift certificate to be sent to her friend, mother-to-be Crystal.
I was so very happy when Crystal contacted me this past week to inform me that her baby had arrived, healthy, happy, and safe!
Baby Grayson is 9 days old, and just precious. He was so bright and alert, yet quiet and peaceful. Too sweet for words!

I had forgotten how soft and downy newborn hair is!

I love the story behind this puppy. This was Crystal’s pound puppy when she was a little girl. During a visit, she left it at her Aunt’s home. Her aunt told her that she could have it back when she had a baby of her own. After all these years, she never forgot, and she gave it back to Crystal last week.

Another family member crocheted this sweet little set for him. This little boy is surrounded in nothing but pure love!

These are just a handful of images from today. There are so many more to come!
Thank you to Crystal and Rick for having us over this afternoon, I hope we created some beautiful memories for you!

Jennifer
