Newfoundland Kindergarten Graduation — Nathan | Jennifer Dawe Photography | St John’s, NL Child Photographer
Thebeginning of the year seems like it was just a few days ago.
I have no idea what happened, but Nate’s first year of school flew by. He has grown so much.
He is a much better writer.
He sings 24/7. No matter what he’s doing. (Ever heard a kid sing when brushing their teeth?)
He can read so much more.
He’s more independent than ever before.
He’s made friends.
And he’s had his feelings hurt too. But he dealt with it admirably.
He can also speak more french than I ever could.
You’ve got two pride filled parents today, Internet!

Oh yes. He WILL despise me for these in his teenage years.
Completely worth it!

Yes. His shirt says ‘Wingman.”
Can you imagine who bought this for him?
(John is lucky I have a sense of humour!)

POP for Sight Words was such an ingenious way to improve his independent reading.
We played this at least 3 times a week. He loved every minute of it! Highly recommended to children who are prereaders or early readers!

If his best friend understood what school was, he’d be proud too.

Newfoundland Wedding Photographer | Lisa & Doug — SNEAKPEEK! | Jennifer Dawe Photography
I’ll be the first to admit, the forecast for today didn’t have me worried for a second.
Although being a wedding photographer in Newfoundland you sometimes have to deal with unexpected weather, I knew it would have taken much worse than 30+cm of snow with high winds to have held up this marriage!
After 12 years together, Lisa and Doug braved a fierce Newfoundland spring storm to tie the knot!
This is much much more than I usually would post in a SneakPeek – but what could I have left out??

SNEAKPEEK! Ethan’s 5th Birthday — Jennifer Dawe Photographer — St John’s, Newfoundland Photographer
Ethan has the BEST birthday parties ever!
Mark Webber is a fantastic magician, he not only made balloon animals for everyone, he put on a spectacular show! The adults enjoyed just as much as the kids did!
Here’s a sneak peek for his mom, because I know she’s itching to see some of what we got that day!

Can’t wait for them to see the rest!

Newfoundland Wedding Photography | Shawn & Crystal | Jennifer Dawe Photography
Another beautiful day for a wedding.
High school sweethearts – Shawn and Crystal had been together for 10 years before tying the knot!
We were lucky enough to be there for every moment of the long awaited day.

I am now the mommy of a “big school kid.”
I couldn’t be prouder!
Here’s some pictures of Nate’s big first day.

My favorite. Hands down.

I couldn’t tell if this was in focus when I took it, because I had tear filled eyes.

Then it was the hardest part; time for me to leave. I was walking out, and asked him for one more picture. This is what I got:

Totally my kid.

Mark and Tina – BabyBump | Jennifer Dawe Photography | Newfoundland Maternity Photographer
If you saw last weeks post, you saw only some of the beautiful shots from the wedding of Mark and Tina from July 2010, posted in celebration of their first anniversary!
If you thought the bride glowed that day, you may want to turn down the brightness of your computer screen!
9 months after their wedding day, the happy newlyweds invited me back to their home to shoot some BabyBump pictures! These are only a small few of the awesome images we came back with!

Rainy Day Play | Jennifer Dawe Photography | St John’s, NL Family Photographer
A little bit of wet weather has never kept us inside. Living where we do, if it did, we would have gone stir crazy many times over. The rain had subsided for a little while when we ventured out to the yard, but everything was still soaked. But, the muddier this child can get, the happier he is!
I guess that’s what play clothes and bubble baths were invented for!

Birthday Boy | Jennifer Dawe Photography | Newfoundland Children’s Photographer
We have never spent much money on gifts or big ticket items – you know how kids get those big expensive toys, and end up playing with the box? We decided a long time ago that we would all be much better off if we spent the money that would normally go towards tons of toys into programs such as soccer, and family activities. He learns more life skills at taekwondo than 50 dinkies can give him.
This is one of my favorite of our family traditions. Every year, I make Nate a birthday shirt, just out of some felt or paint, or markers. He always gets a few small things, but I think he gets more excited about the shirt than he does his gifts.
It’s his special shirt, announcing to the world that he’s the birthday boy. The shirt only cost me $4, the glitter glue, $5.
But when he’s grown, these are going to be invaluable keepsakes.

(By the way, where the heck did 5 years go???)

Dandelions | Jennifer Dawe Photography | St John’s, NL Photographer
During the summer, there is rarely a time you will find us inside. You’ll find us at playgrounds, the beach, down at the lake, or even in the woods sometimes. Bowring Park is a 5 minute walk from our home. At the end of the holiday weekend, we had some nice weather, and made a trip to the playground.

(Superman)

Need to get rid of some dandelions in your garden? This child will pick every one of them, and bring them home to me.

Literally. Every single one.

These are beautiful! I’d like to plant some flowers for next year, but I know little to nothing about gardening. That is my project for this summer; to become a little more horticulturally educated.
Any suggestions on where to start?
