Newfoundland Family Photographer | Jenna and Laura | Jennifer Dawe Photography
It’s no secret that I’m primarily a wedding photographer. It is such a wonderful treat to do LifeArt sessions. To meet up with people and have all the time in the world to photograph them is a complete 180 to what I normally do. I always find it takes me a few minutes to switch into ‘chill’ mode in these relaxed circumstances. I have to take a deep breath, and consciously remind myself – there is no schedule, no timeline — just incredible images to create. It’s extremely liberating, and inspiring!
This past Sunday I was given the opportunity to do just that, twice!
(See the SneakPeek from the first session of the day here!)
When Jenna and Laura asked for me to meet them at Middle Cove Beach, I was excited!
I couldn’t believe it, but I actually have not done a shoot at Middle Cove since photography school. I jumped at the opportunity – and I know you’ll see how incredible it was for me to go back there! Just 15 minutes out of town, Middle Cove is a prime example of the incredible rugged beauty that is only found here in Newfoundland.
Jenna is MADE for the camera! She is funny, and sweet. Laura is radiant, and so proud of her little girl. We had so much fun. We laughed, we giggled, and we got REALLY wet! The girls were full of personality, and it shows!

Jenna and Laura are the best of friends. Jenna’s favorite thing to do with her mommy?
“Snuggle.”
Yes. Seriously. She really did say that!
Heart = Melted

Just simply gorgeous!
xox!

Dandelions | Jennifer Dawe Photography | St John’s, NL Photographer
During the summer, there is rarely a time you will find us inside. You’ll find us at playgrounds, the beach, down at the lake, or even in the woods sometimes. Bowring Park is a 5 minute walk from our home. At the end of the holiday weekend, we had some nice weather, and made a trip to the playground.

(Superman)

Need to get rid of some dandelions in your garden? This child will pick every one of them, and bring them home to me.

Literally. Every single one.

These are beautiful! I’d like to plant some flowers for next year, but I know little to nothing about gardening. That is my project for this summer; to become a little more horticulturally educated.
Any suggestions on where to start?
Tall Ship | Jennifer Dawe Photography | St John’s Photographer
I love this province, and the strong history behind it. Portuguese vessels fished off the Grand Banks for almost 500 years, and the practice became an integral part of their economy, and ours as well. The iconic white hulls and sails could be seen in ports around the island, particularly St John’s. The Our Lady of Fatima statue standing outside the Basilica was actually donated by the government of Portugal, on behalf of their people.

The majestic White Fleet being highly recognized for many, the last departure by one of these ships was in the 1970′s, years before I was born. This particular ship was partially scrapped in 1994, and was restored to it’s original form only a few years ago. Being that this is one of only two vessels of the fleet that are remaining, you have to wonder how many times it will make the journey before it is permanently retired. Truly a treat to see.
As funny as this may sound, seeing this ship made me miss living in Halifax, where they have a Tall Ships festival every summer. Such a beautiful event! I hope when this ship leaves port I get to shoot some of it with the sails risen.
