Newfoundland Wedding Photographers | Danielle’s Bridal Shower | Jennifer Dawe Photography

Inseparable.
We thought the same, we acted the same, and we laughed at the same silly things. She introduced me to 80′s movies, and quesadillas. We wrote each other notes when we were in separate classes. We chatted on ICQ together while watching Survivor. (Oh god, I just dated us, didn’t I?)
We were each other’s shoulders when boys were stupid, and broke our hearts.

We even got ready for prom together.
We went to the salon together to get our hair done.
I did her makeup. She zipped up my dress.

Danielle was my best friend in high school. That was 10 years ago. Now she’s getting married! The BEST part – I get to be there when she gets ready for her wedding, as her photographer.
This past Sunday, myself and a lovely group of ladies spent our afternoon showering the bride-to-be at the North Bank Lodge in Pippy Park.
In true Danielle fashion, everything was exquisitely decorated. (Martha Stewart, move over!)

All of the decor shown below is handmade!

Game materials!

We had to guess whether the item was describing the bride or the groom by holding up the mustache or tiara. Too funny!

The RIGHT – LEFT game. Pass the parcel, adult style! The bridesmaids told us a confusing story, and we had to pass the gifts in the appropriate direction whenever the words right or left were used. Hilarious! (I found a version of the game here if you want to check it out!)

One of many treats!

I could not be more fortunate to call someone a friend. I can not wait to be there when you walk down the aisle.

Newfoundland Newborn Photographer | More Baby Grayson! | Jennifer Dawe Photography

A Sneak Peek usually only has a select few pictures in it, and posted the day of, or the day after the shoot happens.
As a follow up to the Sneak Peek of Baby Grayson that  I posted in the blog a few weeks ago, I wanted to post more from the other images that were delivered to Crystal and Rick after a week after the session took place. Photographing an infant has it’s difficulties, but it is so worth it!
There were so many adorable images that it was hard choosing what to post in that last entry!

As beautiful as the pictures are, and as happy I am to have created them, the personal satisfaction I feel is only trumped by this message:

“The pictures are absolutely beautiful!!! I cried just looking at them. “  – Crystal

Newfoundland Childrens Photographer | Amelia — One Year Old | Jennifer Dawe Photography

Amelia changed so much in just 2 weeks! She has a new tooth, and I even noticed a height difference! It all goes to prove that images of your child in the first year are so important – they change so rapidly.

Being a child photographer in Newfoundland, there are always fun locations to go – we took Amelia to  the park the last time we saw her.
But sometimes there’s nothing sweeter than a simple studio shoot!

She did NOT want anything in her hair. The look she gave her mother!! I couldn’t help but laugh.

Pretending to be shy.

Don’t believe it for a second!

Silly girl!

Too much fun!
I can’t wait to see how much she changes between now and the next time I see her!

xo!

Newfoundland Childrens Photographer | Amelia’s First Birthday | Jennifer Dawe Photography

Amelia’s Mommy searched for a family photographer in St John’s that fit exactly what she was looking for.
She wanted natural, bright photos to look back on the special time when Amelia turned one.
I couldn’t be happier that she found me!
This beautiful baby was so pleasant to work with!
She’ll be a tough one to keep up with when she starts walking!

St John’s Wedding Photographer | Jennifer Dawe Photography | The Royal Wedding

The Royal Wedding

It called for rain,  but we lucked out with overcast skies.
The bride was calm and ethereal, the groom was the happiest he has ever been. With their closest friends as their bridal party, they enjoyed every moment of their day.
The boys laughed and sang, had beers, and played guitar.
The girls giggled and reminisced about how long they had been friends, and how much had changed.
The bride and groom were always looking at each other and smiling.
The groom kept telling his beautiful bride how incredible she looked.
The new Royals danced the night away.
Robbie and Niki’s day was perfect.

This is a long blogpost. It might be the longest so far!
There are over 125 images here. It’s a great example of what you receive from us.
This will also really give you an idea of the benefit of having 2 photographers.

Newfoundland Wedding Photographer | Teaser! | Niki and Rob

Being a Newfoundland wedding photographer, I am always open to shooting at unique locations. There are so many beautiful spots in St John’s that are rarely used. I had always wanted to take a bride here.
I think I now have a new favorite.

So so so many more pictures to come.

Mothers Day #5 | Jennifer Dawe Photography | St John’s, NL Photographer

Mothers day #5!
I’ve made it for almost 6 years without having shipped my child to boarding school, (yet) and with only a few grey hairs.
Score one for mama!

My mothers day started with the whole family at an Ice Caps game!

Even my mom came!

This morning, the boys made me my favorite breakfast.

And Nathan gave me a gift he grew all by himself at school – a bean plant!

He also made me a gift at daycare!

The message reads “Happy Mother Day Mom, Love Nathan”
The sweetest!! I adore it even MORE because it’s upside down! This goes in the memory box, for sure.

So beautiful.

And another surprise to go with it.  I am too lucky for words.

I remember my first mothers day so well.
In 2007, it was just me and Nathan – and were dirt poor. Counting pennies poor. The amount I was getting from my maternity leave from the job I had back then was $568 a month. (Yes, a MONTH.)  That was my entire income for a full year. My car payment was $250/month itself. Add in regular infant expenses, and I learned very quickly how to stretch a dollar, and it’s something I’ll keep with me forever.

That mothers day, I didn’t feel I had much to celebrate. I felt as if I was a complete failure. I knew I didn’t ever want to live through that again. When Nathan was 15 months old, I got a student loan, and went back to school for Photographic Studies. I graduated at the top of my class. I worked my butt off, climbed the ladder into a much higher paying job, and started running the business. It was a slow start, but it was a start nonetheless. We didn’t meet John until mid-2008, and he did nothing but encourage my work ethic, successes, and dreams.
How much has changed in 5 short years!

If you are a last minute Mothers Day shopper, consider making a donation to the Single Parent Association of Newfoundland as a gift. They accept financial donations, gift cards for Sobeys and Dominion, non-perishable food items, used and new toys, clothing for all ages and sizes, school supplies, etc. Anything in good condition can be put to use by these families. Believe me when I say that anything, no matter how big or small, is more appreciated than you can imagine. Don’t wait until Christmas to make a difference.

Not only would a donation be a thoughtful gesture on behalf of your mother, who knows how hard it is to raise children, but it’s also a gift to those mothers (and fathers!) who are making ends meet on their own.

Newfoundland Wedding Photographer | Lisa & Doug — SNEAKPEEK! | Jennifer Dawe Photography

I’ll be the first to admit, the forecast for today didn’t have me worried for a second.

Although being a wedding photographer in Newfoundland you sometimes have to deal with unexpected weather, I knew it would have taken much worse than 30+cm of snow with high winds to have held up this marriage!

After 12 years together, Lisa and Doug braved a fierce Newfoundland spring storm to tie the knot!

This is much much more than I usually would post in a SneakPeek – but what could I have left out??

SNEAKPEEK! Ethan’s 5th Birthday — Jennifer Dawe Photographer — St John’s, Newfoundland Photographer

Ethan has the BEST birthday parties ever!

Mark Webber is a fantastic magician, he not only made balloon animals for everyone, he put on a spectacular show! The adults enjoyed just as much as the kids did!

Here’s a sneak peek for his mom, because I know she’s itching to see some of what we got that day!

Can’t wait for them to see the rest! :)

xox – Jennifer
